Villa Serena is a single-family vacation residence located in front of the ocean, in the luxurious resort of Peninsula Papagayo (Guanacaste, Costa Rica). It is a protected area, in which buildings must comply with strict guidelines in charge of ensuring the conservation of the spectacular natural environment.

Everything you need to rest in paradise

The residence has a total area of 1390 m2, and consists of two levels connected by an elevator and stairs, with modules connected to each other through covered exterior corridors.

As a response to the aggressive slope on which the project is developed, the access to the villa is located on the upper level, through a large ashwood door suspended on two vertical columns.

The lower level houses the public areas, both indoor (kitchen, dining room, living room and media room) and outdoor (barbecue, living room, pool and garden), as well as two guest suites and storage and pantry areas.

The upper level includes parking, garage, covered entrance, hall, three suites and several service rooms.

To reinforce the connection between interiors and exteriors, glazed partitions with large sliding doors are used, which facilitate the access of natural light and the mobility of users. The light tones, predominant in the colour palette, multiply the brightness of the house.

Kitchen with island integrated into the public area of the house

The public area of the house brings together the kitchen, dining room and living room in an open, spacious and open space, connected to the outdoor recreation areas. Its different environments are defined without obstacles, through the materials, the interior design and the ceiling heights.

The kitchen, equipped with furniture designed by Santos, is located in a corner of the room. Its organisation is based on a central island that brings together the washing and preparation areas, as well as multiple work and organisation options: sink holder, drawer unit, ice maker and two dishwashers on the inside, plus five service modules with doors on the outside. The countertop extends along its sides and extends to its rear side, giving shape to a bar to share breakfast or snacks.

Kitchen planning keeps everything within easy reach, and offers plenty of walkways to make it easy for users to share tasks or spaces without disturbing each other.

For its part, the integration options of the Santos furniture, together with its design of pure lines, smooth fronts and a delicate combination of finishes, help to generate a harmonious, warm and serene whole, in accordance with the rest of the spaces to which the room opens.
